I have dealt with a lot of injury over the past 10 years, so my goal at the moment is to enjoy being injury free! Currently, I'm working on building my mileage in 4 week cycles---build for 3 weeks then cut my mileage in half for week 4, my "down" week.
I don't really bring my phone on runs anymore, but when I do I always make sure to snap a picture of the sunrise, and some of my other findings (often roadkill)! And while I prefer to run in the morning, lately I've been pushing my runs off to the afternoon--after work and classes. I find that I feel more springy later in the day and it helps to burn off some of that restlessness that accumulates throughout the day. The best part of afternoon runs? Prime tanning hours! I may be on a mission to find best nut butters while simultaneously building my mileage, but I'm also trying to get a good tan while I'm at it!
Long-run Sunday is my favorite day of the week---a nonnegotiable morning run. Like a lot of runners, I love spending my money on pricey gels, electrolytes, and energy bars! My long run is my time to try fun new gels. While pretty much everything tastes amazing after 12 or so miles, my favorites are UnTapped Maple Energy Gel, Clif Mocha Energy Gel, and my tried and true GU gels.
Currently, I train in On Cloudsurfers and On Cloud X 3. The latter pair is brand new, so I'm not quite sure how I feel about them yet. I love the Cloudsurfers though and might be buying another pair.
